Terms of Service

In these general terms and conditions, www.suriname-tourism.com shall be understood as: hereafter referred to as SURINAME TOURISM.

Part 1: General Section Applicable to Users

1. Definitions

If the following names and terms are written with a capital letter in these General Terms and Conditions, they shall have the meanings set forth below, unless expressly stated otherwise.

  • Down Payment: A deposit requested by the Lessor from the Lessee, up to a maximum of 50% of the Rental Amount.
  • Additional Services: Services offered by Suriname Tourism other than the online placement of a Lessor’s Advertisement in exchange for a predetermined commission percentage.
  • Accommodation: Vacation home(s), Hotels, and Resorts owned by the Lessor.
  • Advertisement(s): The listing of the Lessor’s vacation home on the Suriname Tourism Platform as drafted by the Lessor.
  • General Terms and Conditions: The general terms and conditions of Suriname Tourism.
  • Payment Request: A link sent by the Online Payment Platform that can direct you to your own payment environment to perform a payment handled by Stripe.
  • Visitor(s): Visitors to the Website.
  • Messaging Environment: The online environment provided by Suriname Tourism to the Lessee and Lessor for exchanging relevant information and asking/answering questions.
  • Booking Request: The request sent by a Visitor via the Booking Request Form through the calendar in the Advertisement for the rental of an Accommodation, Car Rental, or booking of a Tour and Guide, for a specific period at a specific price.
  • Security Deposit: A sum of money requested by the Lessor from the Lessee, serving as a guarantee for the proper fulfillment of the Agreement concluded between them. The Lessor determines the amount, and the sum will be refunded to the Lessee upon proper fulfillment of the Agreement.
  • Content: Images, videos, and texts placed on the Website by Lessor(s) accompanying Advertisement(s).
  • Database: The content as displayed on the Website, consisting of, among other things, a database with a varying range of Accommodations.
  • Stripe (Escrow): The received amount that the Online Payment Platform holds in custody on behalf of the Lessor from the Lessee until the moment of payout.
  • User(s): Lessor, Lessee, and/or Visitor.
  • Lessee(s): The Visitor whose Booking Request has been accepted by the Lessor, whereby an Agreement is established between them regarding the relevant Accommodation.
  • Rental Amount: The base rental price as displayed in the Booking Request plus all additional costs payable by the Lessor, excluding the Security Deposit, costs to be offset against the Security Deposit in accordance with Article 26, and applicable tourist taxes.
  • Suriname Tourism Rental Environment: A personal online environment for the Lessor where they can log in to manage Booking Requests and access relevant information.
  • Suriname Tourism Platform: The online platform of Suriname Tourism where Lessors offer Accommodations and Car Rentals for rent, and also offer bookings for Tours via Advertisements to potential customers.
  • Suriname Tourism: The organization Suriname Tourism, located and holding offices at Van der Woudendijk 4, The Hague, and registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number 53093364.
  • My Suriname Tourism Account: A personal online account created by the User for the use of the Website, providing access to personal information regarding bookings, booking history, and Payment Request(s).
  • Online Payment Platform: Stripe Netherlands B.V., having its registered office and place of business in Amsterdam at (1076 ED) Fred. Roeskestraat 100 and registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number 66626641.
  • Agreement: An agreement between Suriname Tourism and a User for the provision of its services, including the online placement of a Lessor’s Advertisement for a commission under the conditions described in Article 15 and any other agreed Additional Services.
  • Remaining Balance: The amount of the Rental Sum due by the Lessee after deduction of any Down Payment.
  • Lessor(s): Private and small commercial providers of Accommodations, Car Rentals, Tours & Guides, Restaurants, and Vouchers on the Suriname Tourism Platform.
  • Expired Booking Request: A Booking Request that the Lessor has not accepted or rejected within the term set forth in Article 15.

2. Effective Date, Application, and Interim Amendments

These General Terms and Conditions apply to every use of the Website and to all services offered by Suriname Tourism as of January 1, 2026. Suriname Tourism reserves the right to amend its General Terms and Conditions from time to time.

3. Additional Conditions

The Lessor and Lessee are required to process payments through the Stripe platform. By using the services of Suriname Tourism, you also expressly agree to the terms and conditions of Stripe.

4. Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Disclaimer

Suriname Tourism values your privacy. Our Privacy and Cookie Policy explains how we handle your data. These can be consulted at the bottom of the Website via the ‘Privacy’ button.

5. Website Operation

Suriname Tourism strives for an optimally functioning Website but depends on third parties and information provided by Lessors. We cannot guarantee that the Website will always function without errors or be accessible at all times.

6. Limitation of Liability and Indemnification

Suriname Tourism is not liable for damage resulting from system failures or outages. To the extent permitted by law, liability is excluded for damage caused by the use of services or incorrect information on the Website. Should Suriname Tourism be held liable, such liability is limited to the base weekly price of the relevant Accommodation.

7. Unauthorized Use of the Website

Suriname Tourism owns the Database. It is prohibited to copy data, collect personal information, or approach other Users for acquisition purposes without prior written consent.

8. Interpretation and Application

In case of ambiguity regarding a provision, interpretation shall be based on the actual intent of the provision. If any provision is found to be void, the remaining provisions remain in full force.

9. Transfer to Third Parties

Suriname Tourism is entitled to transfer its rights and obligations to third parties, ensuring that the same privacy safeguards remain in place.

10. Force Majeure

In the event of force majeure (such as war, pandemics, or natural disasters), Suriname Tourism has the right to suspend or terminate the Agreement without being liable for any compensation.

11. Abuse, Applicable Law, and Disputes

Unlawful use of the Website may lead to the removal of Advertisements. All legal relationships are exclusively governed by Dutch law. Disputes shall be submitted to the Court of The Hague, unless Suriname Tourism chooses to bring the dispute before a legally competent court elsewhere.

PART 2: TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CUSTOMERS

12. Establishment of the Agreement

An agreement between the Customer and the Host is established after the Host has accepted the Booking Request. Suriname Tourism is not a party to this agreement; it merely facilitates the platform and secure payment through Stripe. You independently enter into an agreement with the Host of the Accommodation, Car Rental, or Tour.

13. Establishment of the Agreement
  • Down Payment: 50% of the total rental sum must be paid within 7 days of booking via the Stripe platform.
  • Remaining Balance: The remaining 50% (including any specific deposit) must be paid at least 30 days before arrival.
  • Late Bookings: For bookings made within 4 weeks of arrival, full payment is due within 3 days.
  • Refund of Security Deposit: For car rentals and accommodations, the deposit will be refunded within 7 days of departure, provided the property or vehicle is returned in good condition.
14. Cancellation and Amendment
  • Cancellation by the Customer:

    • Up to 42 days before arrival: 30% of the total sum.
    • 42 to 28 days before arrival: 60% of the total sum.
    • 28 days to the day of arrival: 90% of the total sum.
    • On or after the day of arrival: 100% of the total sum.
    • Amendment fee: €35 per change requested by the Customer.

    Cancellation by the Host: In case of force majeure, the Host will offer an adequate alternative within 48 hours. If no suitable alternative can be found, a full refund will be issued. In such cases, a 5% administrative fee will be withheld to cover transaction and operational costs.

15. Rights and Obligations
  • Behavior: The Customer must behave as a “good customer” and follow reasonable instructions. The Customer is legally liable for damage caused to the Tourist Service & Product.
  • Check-in/Check-out: Key collection usually takes place between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, unless stated otherwise by the Host.
  • Condition of the Property: Accommodations must be left “broom clean,” with dishes washed and stored. Subletting is expressly prohibited.
16. Information and Content

Suriname Tourism does its best to ensure the accuracy of information in advertisements. However, we do not perform physical inspections of every property, vehicle, or tour. We cannot guarantee that a service will meet all personal expectations.

17. Complaints
  • Immediate Issues: Report defects within 24 hours directly to the Host or manager to resolve the matter reasonably and amicably.
  • Escalation: If not resolved, contact Suriname Tourism within 48 hours via +31 616198668
  • Formal Complaint: A written complaint regarding the service must be submitted within 30 days of departure via service@suriname-tourism.com.
18. Force Majeure

In the event of force majeure (war, strikes, natural disasters, pandemic, etc.), Suriname Tourism or the Host may suspend or dissolve the agreement without the Customer being entitled to extra compensation beyond the refund of the sums already paid (minus administrative fees where applicable).

19. Liability

Suriname Tourism is not liable for damage suffered by the Customer or third parties during the stay or use of the service, except in cases of gross negligence by Suriname Tourism itself. Total liability is always limited to the amount paid out by the insurer.

20. Reviews

Customers receive an invitation to post a review upon their return. This must be done within 30 days. Reviews are posted after 14 days to allow the Host time to write a response. Suriname Tourism reserves the right to remove reviews that violate the guidelines.

21. Privacy and Disputes

Personal data is processed in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act. Unless private international law dictates otherwise, Dutch law applies. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in The Hague, the Netherlands.
